My LoE box is painted. I haven’t had a chance to use them yet althogh I’m hoping to convince my brother to have a small bash sometime before I travel abroad. I will take my cryx. The LoE were more for fun painting. I like painting monsters so they seem to be easier and more interesting.
Anyway without further ado the pictures :

Legion Painted
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009Legion of Everblight Update
Tuesday, March 17th, 2009The main back armour plates will be done and blended to hopefully look older than the ‘newer’ growth of spines. The leg plates will have a trim of bone as I’m imagining that the skin goes purple before turning into bone.
And here’s two of the Shredders, WIP :
Flu Induced Painting (FLIP)
Friday, February 27th, 2009I decided to try and pass the time with some painting. The nightmare got a bit of a touch up and at present has one arm. Presently he will have both. Below is a WIP photo of him and the little greenstuff ‘squiggle’ which grips the central cylinder. The rods/pins in the arms go into this then to help support them in addition to the glue. It should essentially provide another way of distributing the weight of the arms.

I also progressed the Withershadow Combine a little – added the teal/turquoise to the robes, drybrushed and inked the metal and added the brass details. I am going to have to write their names on the bases as each one has different rules.
Finally I cracked out the Hordes and began assembling the Carniverean. He’s had quite a lot of mould release powder on him some of which lead to a slight discolouration but after his bath it will be irrelevant! His torso got pinned to the abdomen and greenstuff helped there. Two shallow but broader than normal holes were bored in the tail and the adjoining part and a small ball of greenstuff used to provide additional strength there. Finally the gaps between the underneath plates on the tail and abdomen were greenstuffed and textured to blend it all together.
He still needs filing on some mould lines as you can see and there was a lot of flash – probably why it was on fleabay in the first place. Still a starter box for the price of the Carniverean alone cannot be too bad!
Some Legion are on the Way…
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009…Legion of Everblight that is. Despite PP’s announcement of a new WM/Hordes in 2010 there is still a good year of playing left. Plus having 2 starting boxes (or equivalent) is good for playing against each other and teaching others how to play. Plus, THE MODELS ARE FRICKIN’ ÜBER!
However updates this week will be non existant as on Sunday there is the clubs games day. Meaning that I’ve to paint up my wood elf banner and finish my general before Sunday. However tomorrrow my friend is coming over for a practice game as he will be using my Lizardmen on the Sunday (against the army he wants to collect so he will learn a lot that way too) This leaves little warmachin-ing time
First Club Games
Monday, February 2nd, 2009My first game was against Stephens trollbloods. I hadn’t much of a clue what I was doing and his impalers (big trolls with spears) could take quite a lot of damage. The bile thralls didn’t do much and I wasn’t savvy enough at using Deneghras spells. My force had quite a lot of ranged attack and the bone jacks can’t really hold their own. So I got murdered!

The proverbial bile thrall is about to hit the fan..
Game 2 was against Ian who had Circle, sort of drudic beastmasters. His warcaster was Kruger, a nasty lighting druid. The game went well enough and I had a bit more grip of what was going on around though the lack of a melee unit did show up here. The Cankerworm proved to be a little more useful though eventually it got mangled. However I learned a bit more and I don’t think I wasted my focus as much as in the last game.
Game 3 was also against Ian who took a different list with a differnt Warcaster. I swapped out Gorman DiWolfe for a Pistol Wraith but he died by a spell before getting a chance to plug the Warcaster. I did think my moves out a bit more however. I channeled venom to a floating-reflect-spell-eyeball-thing to corrode it before mr ‘worm decided to eat it. However the beasts were almost unstoppable. I really need a more hard hitting melee unit or two. Still I’m having fun. The end came when Ian teleported his caster beside his Warpwolf who had run up to Deneghra and tried to assassinate her. Unluckily for Ian he fluffed his rolls, used his feat to get more focus/rage and still fluffed those roles. I allocated 2 focus to the canker worm as backup and then used Deneghras feat and the rest of the focus to impale Ians warcaster. It was a good move but it unfortunately backfired for him and I got lucky! Eitherway, I learned a lot, had three games (small games are fast) and had fun.
I was given helpful suggestions by Bob, John and Ian. In ways I wish I had found an internet list (like bob’s incorrect assessment of my army!) as the bile thralls don’t tend to do a lot and if they do something they die doing it. However I’m not to impressed with the Mechanithrall miniatures and I like the bile thralls… making choices on miniatures rather than abilities has finally caught up with me. Still I dont think that I have crippled selection by any means and I will see what gets painted up during the week. I do have a Nightmare/Slayer though I want to put an LED in him however it may take too long and I still have to get the bits sorted. I could just proxy it or even blu-tac it? Either way next week I’m to play Tim who has Menoth which is Warmachine so that could be a lot different.
